Angel Santiago was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Santiago is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least three every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvin Balux, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Collins Family never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Animo Bunche 15-0. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.
Diego Huerta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Collins Family is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Huerta was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Israel Arroyo was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Collins Family: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. David Ortiz was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Collins Family was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Collins Family has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Central City Value, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central City Value has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .526. However, it's not like Collins Family struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
