Basketball Recap: Calhoun Comes Up Short

If Calhoun was riding high fresh off their 67-40 takedown of Meadow Bridge last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Calhoun Red Devils lost 63-42 to the Man Hillbillies on Saturday. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Hillbillies recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Calhoun saw an underclassman step up: freshman Baron Davis posted 21 points and five steals. Davis is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen Carpenter, who earned ten points.

Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Man, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Calhoun will look to defend their home court on Friday against Van at 7:00 p.m. Man and South Pontotoc will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Pontotoc has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three matchups.
