Basketball Recap: Mallorie Bishop's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maud over Rivercrest

Maud came up into this matchup off a tough 53-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Rivercrest Rebels by a score of 36-33 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered against the Rebels since February 5, 2021.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mallorie Bishop, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Osborne, who earned nine points.

Among those leading the charge was Diana Kelley, who scored 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Taylor Smith was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Maud has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Rivercrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-21 record this season.

Maud does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rivercrest, they will face off against Clarksville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
