Volleyball Recap: Fond Du Lac Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Waukesha West

Fond du Lac faced Waukesha West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Ellie Shultis paced Fond du Lac's offense, picking up 19 kills. Shultis got some help from MacKenna Shultis and her 16 assists. Breahna Mentink controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Fond du Lac's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Waukesha West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-8.

Fond du Lac wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Kettle Moraine Lutheran on the 27th. As for Waukesha West, they will be playing at home against Muskego at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
