Preview: Central Knights vs. Smithfield Sentinels
The Central Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Smithfield Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 58-50 to Mt. Pleasant.
Despite their loss, Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lester Rodriguez , who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Ramos Ramos , who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Smithfield couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to Johnston.
Central bumped their record down to 0-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Smithfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Smithfield when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win. Will Central repeat their success, or does Smithfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
