Softball Game Preview: Grinnell Tigers vs. Mt. Vernon Mustangs

The Grinnell Tigers will challenge the Mt. Vernon Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Grinnell is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Saturday, Grinnell narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oskaloosa 4-2.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Solon by a score of 10-6.

Grinnell's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Grinnell might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Mt. Vernon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
