Recap: Joliet West Tigers vs. Normal Community Ironmen
After a string of three wins, the Joliet West Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 63-49 bruising from Normal Community. While losing is never fun, Joliet West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Normal Community is ranked 11th).
Joliet West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maziah Shelton, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Schwall, who scored 12 points.
Joliet West's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10. As for Normal Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Joliet West will play host again and welcome Plainfield South, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Normal Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Manual at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Manual is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
