Basketball Game Preview: Miller Career Academy vs. Lift for Life Academy Hawks

Miller Career Academy will challenge the Lift for Life Academy Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lift for Life Academy is facing Miller Career Academy at the wrong time: Miller Career Academy suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a blow against the Wolverines, falling 97-49. While losing is never fun, Miller Career Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Vashon is ranked second).

Meanwhile, Lift for Life Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-65 heartbreaker at the hands of Priory. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (57), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Lift for Life Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Miller Career Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-7.

Miller Career Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Lift for Life Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 77-65. Will Miller Career Academy repeat their success, or does Lift for Life Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
