Basketball Recap: Casey Eliason Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bartram Trail

Bartram Trail typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Nease proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 31-24 victory over the Bartram Trail Bears. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Bears last Friday, they had to take a 57-53 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nease to victory, but perhaps none more so than Casey Eliason, who posted seven points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Sage Pytel, who put up four points and ten rebounds.

Nease smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Bartram Trail lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zoe Schmookler, who scored five points along with six boards and six blocks. Those six blocks gave Schmookler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda Campos, who earned five points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Nease's record is now 10-11. As for Bartram Trail, they moved to 14-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Nease wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-49 win against Hilliard on the 30th. Bartram Trail has also already played their next contest, a 53-25 victory against Riverside on the 31st.
