Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Statesville Christian). They put the hurt on the Hickory Christian Academy Knights with a sharp 41-17 victory on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Statesville Christian was led to victory by Addison Layne and Ava Hughes. Layne went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Hughes went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to six assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Hughes is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Stephanie McDonald, who posted six points.

Statesville Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.4 points per game.
