Basketball Game Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Pueblo South Colts

The Palmer Ridge Bears will face off against the Pueblo South Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Palmer Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Cheyenne Mountain, taking the game 74-63. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bears' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 44th).

Meanwhile, Pueblo South had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Hornets by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.

Pueblo South's win came from a few key players Palmer Ridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was J'Rell Williams, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Vigil, who put up 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Palmer Ridge and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Pueblo South, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Palmer Ridge took a serious blow against Pueblo South in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 83-34. Thankfully for Palmer Ridge, Maurice Austin (who earned 38 points in addition to five assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
