Terrence Whiting leads a balanced attack to beat Auburn Mountainview

Recap: Beamer Titans vs. Auburn Mountainview Lions

The Beamer Titans came tearing into Thursday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 66-57 win over Auburn Mountainview. Given Beamer's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Auburn Mountainview is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Beamer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Terrence Whiting out in front who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Whiting hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Tellis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Auburn Mountainview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sebastian Arius, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Bowden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Beamer's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Auburn Mountainview, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beamer will face off against Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Auburn Mountainview, they will head out on the road to take on Auburn at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Auburn's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
