Basketball Recap: Lake Minneola Skates Past Mount Dora with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Minneola). They claimed a resounding 67-34 win over the Mount Dora Hurricanes. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 413th) , the win on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Minneola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaelin Bailey out in front who almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, nine boards, and ten steals. Bailey is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Humphreys, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Mount Dora still got an impressive performance from Amelia Kate Walker, who posted 13 points.

Lake Minneola's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mount Dora, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Lake Minneola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-34 loss against South Lake on the 11th. As for Mount Dora, they have also already played their next game, a 44-19 defeat against East Ridge on the 11th.
