Baseball Recap: South Stokes Find Success

South Stokes won the last time they faced Elkin and things went their way on Monday too. The Sauras came out on top against the Buckin' Elks by a score of 7-3.

Tucker Monday made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of South Stokes' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Gabe Ingold was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Tilley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

South Stokes' record now sits at 9-11. As for Elkin, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Coming up, South Stokes will head out on the road to challenge Wilkes Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elkin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
