Preview: Clear Lake Falcons vs. Dickinson Gators
Clear Lake is 1-8 against Dickinson since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clear Lake Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Dickinson Gators at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clear Lake has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Dickinson will arrive with six straight victories.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-10, which was the final score in Clear Lake's tilt against Clear Springs on Friday. While losing is never fun, Clear Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Clear Springs is ranked 138th).
Despite the defeat, Clear Lake got a solid performance out of Elijah Harris, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Harris' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Meanwhile, Dickinson got themselves on the board against Brazoswood on Friday, but Brazoswood never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 59-0 win over the Buccaneers at home. The result was nothing new for Dickinson, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Dickinson's victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Clear Lake's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
Clear Lake suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Dickinson in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Clear Lake, Marquis Johnson (who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
