Softball Game Preview: Norton Panthers vs. Streetsboro Rockets

Norton is 7-2 against Streetsboro since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Streetsboro took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Norton, who comes in off a win.

Norton not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 17-4). They put the hurt on Woodridge with a sharp 15-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Tatum Harris was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison Calo was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Addison Dobbins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Norton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Streetsboro's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Springfield, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rockets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Streetsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Norton, their record now sits at 5-6-1.

Norton suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Streetsboro when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
