Baseball Recap: Port Washington's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Port Washington had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-13 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the West Bend West Spartans 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sam Hoeft made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on O'Neal Wright, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kyle Uselding, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for West Bend West, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 8th.

On West Bend West's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Rose, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
