Basketball Recap: New York School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

If New York School for the Deaf was feeling good fresh off their 55-33 takedown of Ohio School for the Deaf on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The New York School for the Deaf Golden Tornadoes took a 55-37 bruising from the Rochester School for the Deaf Wildcats on Sunday. The Golden Tornadoes were down 46-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, New York School for the Deaf still got an impressive performance from Crystal Pon, who posted 32 points. That's the most points Pon has posted since back in January of 2024.

Rochester School for the Deaf's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evangeline Fisher-Palmer, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Fisher-Palmer has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Ashley Stuhlberg was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards.

New York School for the Deaf's record now sits at 13-7. As for Rochester School for the Deaf, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
