Softball Recap: North Wilkes Beats Elkin for Their Third Straight Win

North Wilkes lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Elkin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Vikings blew past the Buckin' Elks 17-6 on Wednesday. Considering the Vikings have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was North Wilkes' third in a row) raised their record to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Elkin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Wilkes will face off against Surry Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.83 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elkin, they will take on South Stokes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
