Softball Recap: Sturgeon Bay Takes a Loss

Sturgeon Bay had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Two Rivers Purple Raiders, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Clippers of the 12-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Two Rivers, their record is now 15-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

For Two Rivers' part, they got a great performance from Anna Klein as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Klein has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Piper Engh, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lucy Leist was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Sturgeon Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Two Rivers, they will square off against Chilton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
