Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Mustangs vs. Springs Valley Blackhawks

The Edgewood Mustangs will take on the Springs Valley Blackhawks at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Edgewood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Edgewood came up short against Orleans and fell 38-28. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Macey Crider, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Edgewood's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 8-1 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Addison Yearby, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springs Valley). They came out on top against Martinsville by a score of 64-53 on Friday.

Springs Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
