Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Wins Going Away Against Cane Ridge

Hillsboro not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over the Cane Ridge Ravens. The Burros haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Clayton Jenkins made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. He also got two hits, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Efrain Martinez III (TRE) was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Drake McDowell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The win got Hillsboro back to even at 3-3. As for Cane Ridge, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, Hillsboro and Cane Ridge will both be playing Lawson the next time they take the field. Hillsboro will head out to face Lawson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Cane Ridge will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
