Preview: St. Anthony Yellowjackets vs. Providence Catholic Provets
St. Anthony has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Providence Catholic Provets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony will be strutting in after a win while Providence Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.
St. Anthony can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on St. Augustine with a sharp 53-33 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory St. Anthony has posted since December 7, 2023.
Laura Sierra and Alejandra Vargas were among the main playmakers for St. Anthony as the former dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks and the latter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vargas has scored all season. Lisette Vargas was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Providence Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by St. Joseph on the road and fell 66-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Providence Catholic has suffered against St. Joseph since December 11, 2015.
St. Anthony now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Providence Catholic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
St. Anthony didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Providence Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win.
