Basketball Recap: Boerne Takes a Loss

Boerne was the 45-42 winner over Pieper when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Boerne Greyhounds took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pieper Warriors on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Greyhounds still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Boerne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hank Hendrix went 5 for 8 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hendrix has scored all season. Julien Hartman was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Boerne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Leading Pieper to victory were PARKER GOLSCH and MAYSON THOMAS. GOLSCH went 6 for 12 en route to 20 points, while THOMAS almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The game was GOLSCH's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was PORTER JENSEN, who posted eight points.

Boerne's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Pieper, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-11.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing New Braunfels the next time they take the court. Boerne will head out to face New Braunfels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pieper will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th.
