Volleyball Recap: Mesa Verde Triumphs

Mesa Verde won the last time they faced Pioneer, and Steven Boone did his part to make sure it happened again. The Mesa Verde Mavericks walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Pioneer Patriots on Monday thanks in part to Boone, who had nine assists and five digs. Those five digs gave him a new career-high.

Mesa Verde was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17.

The win got Mesa Verde back to even at 2-2. As for Pioneer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Mesa Verde will challenge McClatchy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Verde is facing McClatchy at the right time seeing as McClatchy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Pioneer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Campo at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
