Baseball Recap: Tonopah Comes Up Short

Tonopah came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 21-11 to the Mineral County Serpents. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Muckers still had to take the loss.

Tonopah got a massive performance out of Brekken Miller, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Miller is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Drew Otteson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Tonopah moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mineral County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tonopah will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lone Pine at 3:15 p.m. on April 3. As for Mineral County, they will venture away from home to face off against Sparks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sparks has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.45 runs per game on average), something Mineral County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
