Basketball Recap: Champions Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Champions Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Winter Haven Christian Warriors, falling 63-40. The Lions lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 1-0 score last time.

Nehemiah Murvin-Rawls continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Winter Haven Christian, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 18 boards. Murvin-Rawls' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Joshua Granger was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Champions Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Winter Haven Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Champions Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hifz Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Winter Haven Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 91-27 defeat against Altamonte Christian on the 21st.
