Softball Recap: Corydon Central Beats Madison for Their Fifth Straight Win

Corydon Central waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Madison Cubs 12-2. The game marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season so far.

Madison Garretson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Meghan Logan and Rease Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Logan went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run, while Jones went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Jones has posted since back in May of 2024. Addyson Leonard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Corydon Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Corydon Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Madison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corydon Central will venture away from home to face off against Crawford County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison, they will head out to challenge New Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
