Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Park Lions vs. Maine East Blue Demons

The Lincoln Park Lions will venture away from home to take on the Maine East Blue Demons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither Lincoln Park nor Maine East posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Lincoln Park fell victim to Niles West and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Wolves. The Lions have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Eleanor Funke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Maine East also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Rolling Meadows on Tuesday, falling 13-0. The Blue Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maine East now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Lincoln Park, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Lincoln Park's way against Maine East in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Lincoln Park made off with a 17-6 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Blue Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
