Softball Recap: Cleveland Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Cleveland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt South Garner on Tuesday. Cleveland never let South Garner get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Avery Morgan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendall Gaunt, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylee Meyer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Cleveland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Cleveland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. South Garner dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleveland will square off against Garner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland will need to watch out since Garner has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for South Garner, they will face off against Corinth Holders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Garner's pitchers better be ready for this one: Corinth Holders has averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
