Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Democrats vs. Santee Falcons

Jefferson is 0-10 against Santee since March of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. Jefferson will be playing in front of their home fans against Santee at 4:30 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 17.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sotomayor, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Jefferson put the hurt on Sotomayor with a sharp 28-20 win on Monday. The Democrats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Samantha Estrada was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing nine bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Ramirez, who scored four runs and stole ten bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .725. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Santee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Narbonne.

The victory got Jefferson back to even at 2-2. As for Santee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Jefferson couldn't quite get it done against Santee when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-11. Can Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
