Softball Game Preview: Magna Vista Warriors vs. McMichael Phoenix

Magna Vista is 0-3 against McMichael since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Magna Vista Warriors will challenge the McMichael Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. McMichael took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Magna Vista, who comes in off a win.

Magna Vista took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chatham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Magna Vista came out on top in a nail-biter against Chatham on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, McMichael finally came back down to earth on Monday. They came up short against Rockingham County, falling 12-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Phoenix, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

Lizzie Wilson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Samantha Hopson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

The loss snapped McMichael's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-2 record. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Magna Vista, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Magna Vista suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to McMichael when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Magna Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
