Softball Recap: Neuqua Valley Starts Season with Victory Against Plainfield Central

Neuqua Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Plainfield Central by a score of 7-2 on Monday. For Neuqua Valley, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win Plainfield Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Neuqua Valley got a great performance from Ava Drehs as she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Esha Argawal was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Edelen, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Plainfield Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Neuqua Valley will take on Downers Grove North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Plainfield Central, they will face off against Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
