Basketball Game Preview: Washburn Pirates vs. Phelps Hornets

The Washburn Pirates and the Phelps Hornets will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Washburn sitting on three straight victories and Phelps on nine.

Washburn's tournament run continued when they took on Union County on Friday. Washburn walked away with a 55-46 win over Union County.

Ebany Hill was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. Hannah Williams was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Phelps got the win against South Greene on Friday by a conclusive 65-42. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Phelps pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Washburn, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
