Baseball Recap: Ridgeview Takes a Loss

Ridgeview came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sandalwood Saints by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 24th.

Waylon Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ridgeview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jachob Kaplitz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Kaplitz also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Ridgeview and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Sandalwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season.
