Baseball Recap: Lafayette Victorious

Lafayette saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets.

Brett Williams looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Farmer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Lane Theobald also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Oak Forest Academy, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-1.

Coming up, Lafayette will be taking part in a tournament against Second Baptist at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Second Baptist will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Lafayette surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oak Forest Academy, they will face off against D'Iberville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Forest Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
