Recap: Ballard Bulldogs vs. Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers
The Ballard Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They fell to Jefferson Independent Day 56-52.
Ballard lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Payson Hill, who scored 17 points. Bradley Bergschnieder was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Jefferson Independent Day found their leader in underclassman Jack Twiss, who scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Renger, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Ballard's defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Jefferson Independent Day, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16.
Ballard will be playing in front of their home fans against Northeast Vernon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they and Southern Missouri RUSH will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jefferson Independent Day has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
