Soccer Recap: Highland Takes a Loss

Highland fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mascoutah on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 1-0. One thing that didn't help Highland's chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Sophia Fleming.

Highland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7-1 record this season. As for Mascoutah, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.

Looking ahead, Highland will host Jersey at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland will be up against Jersey's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.5 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mascoutah, they will square off against Belleville East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Belleville East's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
