Football Recap: Yorktown Wildcats vs. Banquete Bulldogs
Yorktown's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Banquete Bulldogs 34-14. The score was close at the half, but the Wildcats pulled away in the second half with 21 points.
Brody Metting was a one-man wrecking crew for Yorktown as he rushed for 258 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Metting a new career-high in rushing yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Yorktown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banquete only rushed for 73.
Yorktown wouldn't let Banquete keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Yorktown can thank Rylan Rau and Richard Flores for forcing all of them.
Although Banquete took the loss, they still got scores from Josh Jimenez and Damien Jenkins.
The win got Yorktown back to even at 1-1. As for Banquete, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Yorktown will host Skidmore-Tynan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Banquete, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pettus on Friday. Hopefully Banquete focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
