Softball Game Preview: Pajaro Valley Grizzlies vs. North Monterey County Condors

Pajaro Valley hasn't had much luck against North Monterey County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Grizzlies will head out to challenge the Condors at 12:00 p.m. Pajaro Valley has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pajaro Valley is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 20-8 to Marina.

Virginia Escobar and Nate Carbajal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Escobar scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Carbajal scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Nadia Renteria also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, North Monterey County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Pacific Grove, falling 10-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Condors were not able to get on the board.

Pajaro Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for North Monterey County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Pajaro Valley might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from North Monterey County in their previous meeting back in May of 2018. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
