Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

There's no place like home for Merritt Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Bayside Bears on Wednesday. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Chase Burns looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Asher Anderson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Brandes, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Merritt Island was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bayside only posted a batting average of .240.

Merritt Island has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bayside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

Merritt Island didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Wheaton Academy on the 4th. As for Bayside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 defeat against Tradition Prep on the 3rd.
