Baseball Recap: Randolph County Find Success

Randolph County was forced to take a big defeat against Wellborn on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Panthers on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-2 loss.

Dalton Spivey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Randolph County is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Rhett Huddleston was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Randolph County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kameron Parmer, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Randolph County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Wellborn, they dropped their record down to 13-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Randolph County will take on Handley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Handley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Wellborn, they will challenge Spring Garden at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wellborn will need to watch out since Spring Garden has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
