Soccer Game Preview: South Stokes vs. Alleghany

The South Stokes Sauras are taking a road trip to square off against the Alleghany Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Stokes is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

South Stokes came up short against Elkin on Tuesday, falling 7-2. South Stokes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Payton Barbee wasn't going to let Elkin walk away unscathed as she scored both of South Stokes' goals, bringing her season total up to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Alleghany can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Neither they nor Mount Airy could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Alleghany have been dealt a draw since back in March.

South Stokes now has a losing record of 8-9-1. Alleghany's draw gives them a new season record of 3-10-2.

South Stokes was able to grind out a solid victory over Alleghany when the teams last played back in April, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sauras since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
