Basketball Recap: Deer Trail Comes Up Short

Deer Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 40-22 bruising from the Cheraw Wolverines.

Despite the loss, Deer Trail still got an impressive performance from Megan Donovan, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 11 points. That was a full 50% of Deer Trail's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allena Sanchez-Neal, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cheraw, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Trail has already played their next game (against Bethune), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cheraw has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Cheyenne Wells.
