Volleyball Recap: St. Luke's Episcopal Comes Up Short

If St. Luke's Episcopal was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Bryant last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saraland Spartans on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 25-8.

Amelia Smith paced St. Luke's Episcopal's offense, picking up 20 kills. Smith got some help from Baker Garside and her 35 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Bryleigh Goff was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 14 digs.

St. Luke's Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Saraland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

St. Luke's Episcopal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Davidson on the 25th. As for Saraland, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Blount on the 25th.
