Volleyball Recap: St. Luke's Episcopal Falls Short Against Ranked Saraland

St. Luke's Episcopal faced Saraland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Spartans. The Wildcats have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 25-8.

Amelia Smith paced St. Luke's Episcopal's offense, picking up 20 kills. Smith got some help from Baker Garside and her 35 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Saraland can attribute much of their success to Bryleigh Goff, who had 14 digs.

St. Luke's Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Saraland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

St. Luke's Episcopal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Davidson on the 25th. As for Saraland, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Blount on the 25th.
