Baseball Game Preview: Dwyer Panthers vs. Benjamin Buccaneers

The Dwyer Panthers will challenge the Benjamin Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dwyer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Dwyer took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Grace Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Dwyer beat Grace Christian Academy on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Holt Flowers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dwyer is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Benjamin suffered their biggest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against St. John Paul II Academy, falling 13-5. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Benjamin also got a good showing from Thomas Harris, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Buchanan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dwyer's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Benjamin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Dwyer was able to grind out a solid victory over Benjamin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Will Dwyer repeat their success, or does Benjamin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
