Baseball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

Lincoln extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They lost 19-1 to the Franklin Panthers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Lincoln saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alan Najera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

On Franklin's side, Edurado Cuevas made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Cuevas has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Galindo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Anthony Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin beat Lincoln by a score of 13-0 on Wednesday.
