Soccer Game Preview: Bellevue West vs. Millard West

Bellevue West is 1-6 against Millard West since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Thunderbirds are taking a road trip to challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Bellevue West will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Bellevue West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Millard North, who was ranked 18th at the time (Bellevue West was ranked fifth). The Thunderbirds' defense stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. Bellevue West's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four games.

They hit Millard North with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Yirah Sears (3), Vanna Reitsma (3), Josie Ryan (2), and Rylee OBrien.

Meanwhile, Millard West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Warriors.

Bellevue West pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those four contests. As for Millard West, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Bellevue West couldn't quite get it done against Millard West in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 as they fell 3-1. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
