Softball Game Preview: Plainwell Trojans vs. Allegan Tigers

The Plainwell Trojans will face off against the Allegan Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Plainwell is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Plainwell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 14-10 to Hastings on Thursday.

Taya Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tatum Johnson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Plainwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Allegan's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-0 to Hackett Catholic Prep, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Fighting Irish: they've now lost eight in a row.

Plainwell's record now sits at 1-6. As for Allegan, their record now sits at 0-2.

Plainwell skirted past Allegan 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plainwell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
